Our Baby Boy is a Week Old

11:39 am on Tuesday, December 14 our lives changed forever for the better. Our sweet little boy Jaxon Adam Lester finally made his appearance into this world. He weighed 9 pounds even and was 19 and a half inches long. We are so blessed that God made us parents to this sweet little boy and we couldn't be any happier than when he's in our arms.

Here's my journey:

As you know, I had a false alarm thinking I was going into labor on Monday so Jake and I went into Labor and Delivery but the nurse told us that it wasn't the real thing and that she thinks she'd see us back in a couple days. She must have been psychic because she was so right! I picked my mom up from the airport on Tuesday night and on the drive home I started have little tiny contractions. They weren't painful, more annoying than anything but they never went away. They grew stronger and stronger throughout the night and got closer together. I didn't want to go to the hospital on another false alarm so I didn't tell Jake how bad they were until he caught me crying in the shower at 2 am. I could never get comfortable and nothing seemed to ease the pain. Finally at 3:45 am I couldn't take it anymore and the contractions were two minutes apart. We arrived at the hospital at 4:04 am and I was rushed into the triage center. Within a minute or two the nurse checked me and I was dilated to 4-5 cm and 100% effaced. Finally, I was real labor and I knew I'd be having our son later that day!! I was taken back into a labor and delivery room where I was hooked up to the machines and they gave me some pain reliever through an IV. Pretty quickly I had already progressed to 7 am and I got an epidural. The shot barely even hurt, it was nothing compared to the contractions and back labor I was having. Luckily for me the epidural worked just as it should have and it took full effect within 15 minutes. The rest of my labor progressed a little more slowly and it wasn't until 9:30 that I started pushing. My dad was on speakerphone the whole time so he could be as much of a part of it as he could be from back home. Both my mom and Jake were able to be in the delivery room also. I pushed for a total of two hours and finally my little man arrived!!! They put him on my chest immediately and Jake cut the cord. Poor little guy had a pretty big cone head at the time but he was still so beautiful. They took him to weigh him and clean him off more. One great thing about the hospital is how much they promote mommy and baby skin to skin contact. So pretty much from the time he was born for another hour or more it was just Jaxon laying on my chest. It was amazing finally having him here. It's so incredible that he was inside my belly then all the sudden he wasn't anymore. Having a child truly makes you believe in love at first sight.

Over the past week Jaxon and I have had a little trouble breastfeeding but we're both starting to get the hang of it now. He is on the borderline of losing too much weight (he weighed 8 pounds even as of yesterday!) so our pediatrician is having us come back on Friday to weigh him again. We may need to supplement with formula if he hasn't gained anything. Jaxon sleeps all the time right now. I have to really try to wake him up in the middle of the night to feed him, but even then he'll only eat for 5 minutes or less before really passing back out again. We also got him circumcised yesterday and he's healing well from that. Our tough little man apparently didn't cry or bleed at all during the procedure.

Jaxon is truly the best thing to ever happen to Jake and I. He is definitely his father's son and looks a lot like Jake. Jax has big blue eyes and dark blonde hair. Words can't describe how beautiful he is. Every once in a while he'll crack a little smile while he's asleep and it makes you just fall in love all over again. We can't wait for everyone to meet him and fall in love too.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I know Jake and I got everything we could have ever wanted or dreamed for this year. I'll continue to keep you all updated as often as I can with pictures and stories of Jaxon.

Next post I'll upload a ton of pictures for you all to "ohh" and "ahh" over.   :)

MY SON IS SUCH A TEASE!!!!

So Jake and I were convinced that yesterday was Jaxon's big day! Around 10am I started having the most painful cramps ever that were radiating from my back to my front. There was a constant pain but there'd be waves of just extra stabbing pain. I started timing the contractions and they were about 5 minutes apart by the time we left for the hospital. We got there a couple hours after my contractions started. They sent me to the triage center and I was put on two different monitors, one for Jax's heart rate and another to track my contractions. They got closer together at the hospital, about two minutes apart but there wasn't a clear pattern to them. The contractions also weren't changing my cervix any so after 3-4 hours of being in the hospital they said since I wasn't progressing that they were going to send me home. The nurse thinks I'm in early early labor and all I need is just one little push and I'll be in active labor quickly. I was dilated about the same when I got checked. She said I was at 3 cm, so I guess that's better than 2-3 cm. I was a little disappointed to go to the hospital this late in the pregnancy and not come home with my baby boy.

My mom flies in tonight!! So I told her that once she's here we're doing everything possible to get this baby out. I think Jaxon has been waiting for Nana to get here to make his appearance so now he can come on out.

Jake is once again on swing crew this week so he leaves for work at 10 am and comes home around 11. It'd be great if I went into labor at night so we don't have to worry about Jake getting off work and sitting in traffic to come to the house to take me to the hospital.

On the plus side, we've got everything ready for our little boy. My bags are packed, his bags are packed, his carseat is in place, and everything else imaginable is all set.

I have an OB appointment tomorrow. I'm going to ask her to sweep my membranes to help me get this show on the road to just give Jax his lil push he needs.

I thought I'd update you all in case I go into labor before Friday! We're soooo close to meeting lil man!!!

38 Weeks

Well, Jaxon is still baking in my belly. Our lil man is such a tease!!! He gives Momma contractions that come every 3 minutes for a couple hours then stops. He also makes Momma think she's going to have him really early since I was already dilated to 2-3 at 36w6d. But even after all the contractions I had this week I made no progress at my doctor's appointment I had yesterday. I was really disappointed. My OB checked me and said that I was measuring the same as last week, so I'm still sitting at 2-3 cm and 70% effaced. I know things can change quickly, but I was really hoping for some type of progress.

I was also supposed to have an ultrasound yesterday to see if Jaxon is still measuring big, but I had to cancel it because the doctor's office didn't put in the referral to my insurance company. Hopefully today I'll hear back from my doctor and she'll tell me whether or not they think I'll be able to get my ultrasound done in time. I've only seen two out of the three doctors in the practice, but the one doctor I had yesterday I'm not all that fond of. This was only the second time I've seen her. The first time she told me that Jaxon's measurements from his first ultrasound weren't big even though he was measuring two and half weeks ahead and then this time she gave me some terrible advice that I don't think is accurate at all! I told her that Jaxon has been moving a lot less and there was one day I was really worried about it. She told me that as long as he moves 6 times in one hour within 24 hours then it's nothing to worry about. So basically as long as I feel 6 kicks, punches or rolls in 24 hours then he's okay. I don't think that is safe at all. When Jake and I left the appointment we both agreed that if I only felt 6 movements within like 3 or 4 hours I'd be worried. Hopefully that is the last time I have to see her and I pray she isn't the doctor on call at the hospital when Jax decides to arrive.

I have finally hit that stage in the pregnancy where I can not get comfortable for the life of me! My tummy is always tight, Jax still likes to kick in my ribs every once in a while, ,my hips and pelvis are always hurting, and so much more. But no matter how uncomfortable I am I know I have a beautiful blessing growing inside of me so it makes it all worth it. The things mommies go through for their children...  ;)

I'm hoping today is the last day of Jake working longer hours/nights. I see him for probably for a total of two awake hours every day. He also has 24 hour duty starting Sunday morning so that'll be another whole day of not seeing him. Man, I'm complaining an awful lot this post, sorry!!

On a better note, my mom will be here Tuesday and that's also Jake's guess as to when Jax will arrive. Maybe little man knows that's when Nana will be here so he's waiting for her. I really hope if he does decide to come that day he at least waits til we're all back at the house because since we moved we live about 70 minutes from the airport, not to mention my hospital is another 15 on top of that. Jake and I hope I don't go into labor between 3-8 pm because the traffic gets pretty bad from our house to the hospital and I don't think there's a back way.

I haven't taken a picture yet today because I've been nesting like crazy. I think I'll wait until Jake is home because he's only been in a couple of my belly shots. But I'm off to go clean some more and scare Lucy Goosey with the vacuum cleaner.  :)

P.S.- Lucy eats the Christmas presents and ornaments. She's such an idiot sometimes... okay... all the time.

Love you all,

37 Weeks= Full Term!!

The past 37 weeks have flown by and I am officially considered full term. That means that Jaxon could be born any day now and not be considered a premie. His lungs are mature enough to breathe on their own after his big debut, along with his other organs and organ systems.

I think Jaxon knew the exact day he was considered full term because he's been extremely anxious about wanting to come out. On Wednesday, November 30, I had contractions for a few hours. They felt more like period cramps but they started in my back then radiated towards my belly. They were not very pleasant to say the least, but they finally calmed down enough for me to be able to fall asleep. The next morning I had a doctor's appointment where my OB checked my progress. As of then I was 2-3 cm dilated and 70% effaced already! She said if I continued like this there's no way I'll make it to my due date. The next day was Friday and I was considered full term.

Fast forward to last night and I thought I was for sure going to be going into labor! I was up in the kitchen for about an hour making dinner and desserts and I could tell I was having contractions again. The same way the other ones felt just a few nights prior. They weren't unbearable though. I went to take a shower to see if that would stop them and even after I got out they were still coming pretty frequently. So I finally decided to sit down and start timing them and they were 3 minutes apart!!! I have an app on my phone that's a contraction timer and it said I was having them about 3 minutes apart and they'd last on average 45 seconds. This continued on for another hour or two. I didn't go into labor and delivery because they weren't getting any worse in pain, and I didn't want to go up there just to be sent home without a baby. Eventually they stopped coming and all was well. I have another appointment on Thursday again so I'll be anxious to see if last night's episodes dilated me anymore. I also have an ultrasound right before my appointment to see if Jax is still measuring large. I'm thinking I might be correct on my guess that he'll be here on the 10th which is a full moon. I really really doubt I'm going to make it to my due date at this point, but we'll see. All I know is that Mommy and Daddy are very ready to have Jaxon arrive and to finally hold our son!

Jake is working "swing crew" this week which means he goes into work at noon and doesn't get off until ten pm. They're doing a lot of night flights this week, so that's why his schedule has changed.

Lucy is getting a tiny bit more well behaved since beginning her classes. She still jumps up, but she's slowly learning she has to sit to be greeted. It's hard to get her to listen if you don't have a treat though, that's the hardest part. She's just so stubborn and high energy! Jake and I joke that she's either 0% energy or 150%- there's no in between. Her last training class is on Saturday and there's a test she has to pass. We did the "pre-test" at our last class and she passed it so we're sure she'll graduate.  :)  She definitely still has her moments though.

I just wanted to update you all right quick. After Jaxon is born it'll probably be a while before I update the blog again, but we do plan on keeping it updated even after he's born. In case for some reason he decides to come before next Friday then we love you all and you'll be hearing from us soon!  :)

36 WEEKS!!

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry I've been slacking at updating this blog on Fridays. Things are starting to get more hectic the closer it gets to Jaxon's due date. We now officially have less than 4 weeks until little man's arrival!! I can't believe it! As each week passes I feel him get hiccups more often which is a good sign that he's practicing his breathing just like he should be. I feel so bad because his hiccups last at least 5 minutes! Poor thing, I'm sure they shake his entire body too.

I go to my doctor's appointments on a weekly basis now. They put in a request to have me do my 38 week ultrasound, so hopefully insurance approves it. If so then I will try to have it done on Thursday, December 8 because I also have an OB appointment that day. Then we can discuss whether or not I will need to be induced early. I have a feeling he'll come early on his own though.

Jake and I had some friends over for Thanksgiving and we had a great time. Jake roasted a turkey in the oven and also smoked one. They both turned out fantastic!!! I begged him to let me put up Christmas decorations this weekend so yesterday he got out our tree and helped me put it together. I ordered Jaxon a stocking that matches Jake's and I also ordered Lucy one that matches Leila's. I have the odd-ball stocking now, but that's okay.

Our friends all guessed when they think I'll have baby Jaxon and we wrote it on the calendar. My guess is December 9 because it's a full moon and I was born on a full moon night! Jake guessed December 13. When do you all think I will have baby Jaxon??

I had been waiting to put up the pictures from the Marine Corps Ball since mine were all very dark.  The photographer that was at the event finally added his pictures onto the website so I'll upload some at the end of my update.

Jake put together Jaxon's pack-n-play this weekend also. It is the most high tech thing I've ever seen!!! It plays music and different sounds (such as nature sounds, sleep sounds or a few classical songs). You can record a 10 second message and play it back, so when Jake is out in training he can still say goodnight to baby. It also has a place to plug in an mp3 player or ipod so you can play your own music. And finally, it has a sensor that when it hears Jaxon crying it'll start playing some of the sleep music to help soothe him and put him back to sleep. Technology these days is amazing!!!!

I really should pack my hospital bag just in case anything happens soon. I've had a couple mild contractions while typing up this blog post actually. Usually I just get the tightness in my belly from the Braxton Hicks but these were a little painful. It's kind of scary knowing I'll be going into labor within the next month. I know this is what my body was made to do, but it's still intimidating and nerve-racking. I just have to think of the positive and that is that we will all have a beautiful blessing added to our lives at the end of it all. I can't express enough how lucky Jake, Jaxon and I are that we have such supportive family and friends. We love you all so much and wish we lived closer so we could physically be there with you guys.

Without anymore waiting, here is my belly picture for this week and also some pictures from the Marine Corps Ball.

35 weeks!!

Eeeeeeekkkkk!!! I can't believe I've already been pregnant for 35 weeks and that there's only 5 weeks left until we can meet Jaxon!!!

As you all know, he's weighing more than the average 35 weeker. I wish I asked how long he was but they say the average 35 week baby is over 19 inches long, so I'm assuming he's a little taller than that. Jaxon's kidneys are fully developed and his liver can process some waste products. His blood circulation is perfected and his immune system has matured enough to protect him from infections outside of the womb. Our little man's main job is to put on about 1 oz per day until he decides he's ready to come out!

Since I already updated you all on the doctor appointment there isn't much else to say about this week other than we're that much closer to seeing my linebacker.  ;)

I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving. We sure do wish we could be home with you all on this holiday. Jake and I are hosting Thanksgiving for two different couples. It should be a great time, but we'll be thinking of you all. We are so blessed to have all the wonderful and supportive family and friends in our lives that we do! Thank you all for making a positive impact in our lives and for wanting to be such a big part of Jaxon's. So eat lots of turkey, take a nap and enjoy some football!!!

Here are the belly pictures I took:

And of course one with my baby, Leila

Our BIG boy

I thought I'd update everyone really quickly in between me taking some tests for my online school.

Jake and I had an ultrasound appointment and an OB appointment yesterday. First was the ultrasound. Baby Jax is so far along that it's hard to see anything on the screen anymore. He's just smushed in there with no where to go, poor thing. Yesterday at the ultrasound I was 34 weeks and 5 days along. The lady started taking measurements on Jaxon and in the first few minutes Jake asked what the numbers on the screen meant, if they corresponded to how many weeks along Jaxon was measuring. The tech said yes and said "this body part is 34-35 weeks" so I was thinking the entire time that Jax would be measuring right where he should be. At the end of the ultrasound she turned the screen so I could see him and she tried to show me his feet, and hands and face, etc... Then I asked how big he was and she said that according to all the calculations the machine makes based on measurements of his body parts that he weighs 6 lbs 9 oz!!!!! She said he was measuring at about 36 weeks and 3 days which is almost two full weeks further along than what I am! So he's the average weight for a baby that's 36-37 weeks along, but since he's less than 35 he's a big boy! She did say that the calculations can be off by plus or minus half a pound, so he's a least 6 pounds and could be as much as 7 right now! She then said that she was going to fax over the information to my doctor by Thursday.

So then I had my OB appointment and since she hadn't gotten the fax yet she asked how the ultrasound went. Jake and I told her Jaxon's measurements and she agreed that he was a big baby. My fundal height was also measuring at 37 weeks, which is has always been measuring big (aka the reason she wanted me to get a growth ultrasound). My doctor then said she's going to try to get me another ultrasound at 38 weeks to measure his growth and give me a good estimate as to what he'll weigh at birth. She made it sound like no matter what that I'll be having Jaxon at 39 weeks. She said if the 38 week ultrasound has him measuring 9+ pounds then she wants me to get a c-section because she's afraid of shoulder dysplasia. If he's less than 9 pounds but still big then I'll be induced. I let my doctor know that I only want a c-section if it's medically necessary and that I want to try to have Jaxon naturally first, even if he is over 9 pounds. I also start going to see her every week now so she can continue to check on me. But right now it seems like Jax will be born on December 16 instead of the 23rd; although it's not set in stone yet.

I'll of course continue to keep you all updated every week as I hear more information.

Ok, back to tests.  :)

Love you all!

Jaxon's Finished Nursery

We are finally done with Jaxon's nursery!! The walls are painted, the furniture is set up, clothes and bedding are washed and shelves are hung. The only thing missing is our son.

Here are pictures I took this morning of little man's room.

His nursery theme is airplanes. Daddy added corner shelves along the back walls.

Here's a close up of what his name looks like on the wall.

Jaxon's crib with his name above it.

The amazing glider we got and pictures of airplanes

His dresser/changing table. Daddy also put up these floating shelves on the walls. Those teddy bears were Jake's from when he was 2 and got burned and was in the hospital for a while. In his dresser is 90% of his 0-3 month clothes, socks, hats, swaddlers and blankets.

His swing. I don't think it'll stay in his room, we'll probably move it downstairs and put his bouncy seat in his room instead.

His toy bag. I think I want to add some kind of small shelves or bookcase under this for more storage.

Left side of his closet. It's almost completely organized. That's all diapers and wipes on the bottom and bins of sheets and bigger sized clothes on the shelves.

Right side of his closet. Some of his 0-3 month clothes hanging, his hospital bag ready to go and a bunch of other things that I need to find a better place for.

I hope you guys like his nursery as much as we do. We're really proud of it!

Love you all,
Mommy Daddy and baby J

Quick Update, 34 weeks!

Sorry I forgot to update yesterday.
Today is a cold, rainy day making it hard to get up off the couch and do anything productive.

Yesterday was our 34 week mark! Baby Jaxon now weighs a little over 5 pounds!! Holy cow that sounds like such a big boy! Nothing new is developing with him, besides his lungs mature a little more every day getting ready for his first breath of fresh air.  :) As my due date approaches I'm getting more and more anxious for him to get here. I almost want to sleep the next 6 weeks away (except wake up for Thanksgiving) until little man is here. I finally took pictures of the nursery, so now I just have to upload them to the computer then add them to the blog.

I've got a doctor's appointment and ultrasound on Wednesday. I can't wait to see little Jax again.

The Marine Corps Ball was on Thursday night. It was fun getting all dressed up and celebrating the birthday of the Corps. Jake was in the ceremony and swung around swords as they walk the cake up and down the aisle. I'm laughing now at what you guys must be visualizing with the description I just gave. It's really hard to explain, but maybe I'll try to do a better job. In the beginning of the ceremony we celebrate the Marine Corps' birthday. They have guys walk in with swords and they stand at the sides of the aisle and then they walk the flags down the aisle then the cake. After the ceremony we eat dinner and they open the floor for dancing. This is the first year Jake was a dancing machine... only because he had a few too many drinks in him. Add this on my tab of pictures I still need to upload to the blog.

Lucy has her second day of doggy training classes today. She has been a little extra obnoxious this past week.

The picture this week is featuring Jake! He is trying to stick his belly out as far as mine is, he definitely did not succeed.

But I hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Mommy, Daddy, and J

A Few Maternity Pictures and Labor and Delivery

I'll start off with Labor and Delivery since I'm sure you're all wondering why I put that. On Saturday I was having period-like cramps that were extremely painful but they went away. On Sunday morning, for the first time in my pregnancy, had a little bit of lower back pain. Those things, along with some indigestion problems for a few days, worried me a tiny bit. Okay, so now its a couple hours later on Sunday, Jake and I were going to the hospital to pre-register so that way when I do go into active labor I won't have to fill out a bunch of paperwork while I'm in pain. I fill out the paperwork and I tell the lady about the problems I had on Saturday and earlier that morning, well she calls the nurses and tells them my symptoms and they admit me into Labor and Delivery to be monitored. I was there for a total of 3 hours. Everything turned out fine. I don't have any infections, I'm not dilated or effaced any and my blood pressure was still great...and of course baby Jaxon was kicking up a storm! When they first hooked me up to the monitors I was having contractions (not the painful ones) pretty consistently at every 5 minutes. They gave me two shots which relaxed my uterine muscles and when that calmed my body down I got to go home. So that was my first experience at labor and delivery. The nurses were all very nice and the hospital was amazing, so that's a plus. But I'm definitely never going to mention anything again unless I know I'm in real labor or not because that just seemed like a waste of a Sunday! haha

Moving on,

I had my maternity pictures done on Saturday. My photographer already edited a couple of them and sent them to me. Jake and I had a ton of pictures taken and a lot of different poses. I can't wait to see all of them finished. For now, here is a sneak peek.

Yep, my belly is HUGE! I really don't know how much more I can grow in 7 weeks! I'm sure Jaxon is laughing right now and thinking, "just you wait, Mom!"

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures! I'll post more as he sends more to me.

Love you all,
Mommy, Daddy and Jaxon

33 weeks!!!

Jaxon is hanging out in my ribs right now as I type this. Halfway laying down/slouching on the couch probably isn't the most comfortable for him so I bet he's trying to get me to change positions.

Well another week has gone by! Today I am 33 weeks pregnant with our son. It's crazy to think that he could be here as early as 4 weeks from now. They say that he weighs anywhere between 4 and a half to 5 pounds right now!! He's also over 17" long! His bones are beginning to harden in his body, except for his skull since those will slide and overlap each other during birth to make it easier for his noggin to come out. Also this week he's starting to keep his eyes open more when he's awake and he's coordinating his breathing with sucking. Over the next month Jaxon will still be putting on about half a pound per week and then his growth will slow after that.

Mommy has been feeling much better lately! I think I really lucked out because I thought for a while I had symphysis pubic dysfunction, which only gets worse throughout pregnancy until delivery but I think I had just somehow really super strained my ligaments and such because it doesn't hurt near as badly anymore to move. Although it still isn't the best feeling rolling over in bed or getting dressed, I'm not almost in tears when doing it like I was before. I've gained plenty of weight this pregnancy... I'm pretty sure I'm going to surpass the recommended 25-35 pounds since I've already gained 29.... geez that sounds like so much!! As long as Jax is healthy then I'm okay with that weight gain.

I had a doctor appointment with my new OB on Wednesday! It was wonderful! The clinic was very nice and the staff and doctor was very nice as well. I asked her about inductions since I'm afraid Jaxon is going to be a big baby. She said that since I've consistently measured big throughout the pregnancy that she'll order me an ultrasound to estimate his weight and if he is big that they'll induce me at 39 weeks or that I might have to have an elective C-section to reduce the risk of shoulder dysplasia. I really really really do not want to have a C-section if I can help it! But if he is measuring normal then she said she won't let me go past 41 weeks, so that means he'll definitely be born in December!! But I am very excited we get to see Jax one more time before he's born! Jake and I are also looking into pediatricians for him and we're doing our research and making sure we pick the right one for our baby.

The Marine Corps Ball is Nov 10 for us! I had a hard time finding a dress that fit my belly and was comfortable. I finally found one, the only bad thing is that it is purple. It won't match Jake's dress blues very well, but I didn't have a choice since it was the only dress in California in the size I needed in that particular style.... so purple it is. The belly picture I'll post this week is me in my dress, I actually took the picture yesterday, but that's close enough to 33 weeks. :)

Jake and I have our maternity pictures tomorrow! I'm so excited!! I couldn't find those vintage looking wooden blocks with letters on them to use as a prop, so I'm a little disappointed with that. I wanted to spell out Jaxon's name and hold the blocks and put them on my belly. Oh well, I know the pictures will turn out great either way!! Also tomorrow Lucy starts dog training/obedience classes! The class is 6 weeks long, so hopefully by mid December she is 130984 times better than she is right now or we'll have to find her a new home. She is still just too rough and hyper to have around a newborn.

Once again I rambled on for a long time. Here are my pictures of me in my ball dress that I took yesterday.

Don't forget to set your clocks back 1 hour on Saturday night before you go to bed!!

Love and miss you all,
Mommy, Daddy and Jax

32 weeks

Holy cow! Can you believe there's only about 8 weeks (or hopefully a little less) until Jaxon arrives?! This pregnancy has flown by but I have a feeling the next few weeks are just going to crawl until his due date. Thank goodness I have some holidays in the meantime to help make the time pass by more quickly.

Jaxon now measures in around a little over 4 pounds and anywhere between 16-17" long. Our big boy is still quite the little mover! As soon as I realize I haven't felt him for a little while he'll start right back up with his dancing to remind Mommy he's still there. I felt like the past couple days I have felt him even lower than what I have before. I think he is starting to make his way down into my pelvis which accounts for most of my pelvic pain. His immune system is starting to function on it's own, but of course Mommy is still doing most of the work. And good thing too, because I've had this cold that won't go away now for over a week! I think it's starting to slowly get better though.

I did have a dream last night about Jaxon's big arrival! The only part I could remember was that I had to have him via C section and he was born on December 7 and weighed exactly 7 pounds! Wouldn't it be weird if those things were true?!

I'm starting to wash all of Jaxon's clothes and bedding today. I was going to try to have pictures up of his nursery by this blog post, but I don't think that'll happen. I guess you all will have to wait until my next update. Sorry!

Jake is so cute! I don't think he notices that I notice, but every single day he'll go open the door to Jaxon's room and just look in there for about 30 seconds then close the door. He's so excited and anxious for our son to be here, just as I am!

Jake and I have a lot to do this weekend. We're going down to the condo and cleaning it before turning it over to the property manager. We also have some water softener people coming over Saturday afternoon to test our water and just for letting them come over they're giving us a free case of water bottles and free lunch at Olive Garden, so you know I couldn't turn that down! And hopefully we will be 90% or more complete with Jaxon's nursery by the end of this weekend. I really hope we can get everything put away in the house this weekend too because I'm tired of looking at boxes everywhere. I also have to find a dress to wear for the Marine Corps Ball that's taking place Nov 10! I know Jake is thrilled to be going with me to do that.  ;)

I'm really hoping at the appointment with my new OB on Wednesday that they'll want to give me an ultrasound so they can see for themselves where I'm at with Jaxon's growth. I'm still measuring a little big on my fundal height so hopefully that'll give her enough of a reason to check me out. I am really curious if Jax is just a big baby like his daddy or if Mommy has just gained a little too much weight and that's why I'm consistently measuring ahead. Either way, I'd still love to just see little man on the ultrasound one last time before we can meet him in person.

Well I hope you all enjoy your Halloween weekend!! I'm anxious to see how many trick or treaters we'll be getting at the new house. I made the mistake of buying candy yesterday when I really should have waited until Halloween day because now I'm going to eat it all before Monday!  :-)

Here's a picture of my big ol' belly and my new dark hair!

Finally, a new OB!!!

I couldn't wait until Friday to update you all on this wonderful news I received yesterday and today!

My referral to get a new OB up by our new house finally went through!! It's for the doctor and hospital I've been wanting to deliver at and that was recommended to me by others. I had a little scare yesterday when I called the new doctor to set up my appointment. They told me they don't accept new patients after 32 weeks (which I will be on Friday) and that they still need to receive and review all my medical records. So I called my previous doctors and asked them to fax my records ASAP so they could be reviewed and accepted by my new doctor by Friday. Luckily, the new doctors called me this morning and said they received my records and reviewed them and that they wanted to set an appointment up with me next week! It was such a sigh of relief. I have no idea what I'd do if I went past 32 weeks, I'd be so upset. But anyways, my appointment with my doctor is set for Wednesday, November 2. Jake and I couldn't be more excited!!

Here is a link to the hospital I'll be delivering at. It was recently built and I've heard so many great things about it. I'll go visit there this weekend to pre-register as a patient and look at what classes they offer for new parents.

Let's celebrate that Alycia and Jaxon will finally have a doctor that cares about ua and takes time for us!!! Wahoo!!!!

31 weeks!!

"No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside."

Baby Jaxon is growing away in Mommy's belly. Today we are 31 weeks along with only 9 more weeks to go! It's crazy to think that he could come even sooner than 9 weeks. Jake and I will be totally prepared for his arrival after this weekend. Jaxon's nursery should be complete by Monday. But on average, babies at 31 weeks are around 16 inches long and a little under 4 pounds! In coming weeks, Jaxon will be gaining weight but not as much height as he has been. Jaxon can now turn his head form side to side along with the rest of the acrobatics he's been practicing in my tummy. I believe he was practicing the moonwalk on my ribs a few minutes ago!

As of Thursday or Friday last week I've had some pretty bad pelvic pain. It hurts every time I move, whether walking, turning over in bed, etc... It only hurts where my pubic bone is, so I'm not 100% sure what it is. I talked to my regular primary care doctor and she thinks it's just normal pregnancy feelings. I tried Googling what I was feeling and I am starting to think Jaxon is either taking his position for labor or I'm starting to have SPD. SPD is pretty much just where the ligaments are loosening up enough for labor and the symphysis of my pubic bones are separating, also gearing up for labor. I've definitely started waddling now that this new pain has occurred.

I've also been feeling really sickly since we moved up here. I'm not sure if it's because we slept with the windows open the first night here, or what, but I have had runny/stuffy nose since then. I feel miserable. It's almost allergy-like feelings since I also have watery eyes, but I've never had allergies before. I know you can acquire them with age, so I'm not ruling it out entirely. I can't sleep because I can't breathe and it makes for a long day.

Of course I'm still having problems figuring out who my new OB is. The Naval hospital I was being seen at and my insurance company apparently do not talk to each other. They keep pointing fingers and saying it's up to the other one to change my OB. I finally got a mean bone in my body and yelled at some lady the other day. I told her that I could go into labor at any time and I have no idea where I'd even go, let alone I have no doctor. My primary care doctor has even tried calling both and they can't give straight answers to them either. So pretty much it has come down to me calling both every couple days to check up on the progress.

We painted Jaxon's nursery the day after we moved in. The bottom half is green that matches his bedding and the top half we left the beige color the room already was. Jake installed a chair rail along the walls as well. We're hoping to finish off his nursery this weekend, which consists of putting together his crib and placing all his furniture and clothes in their appropriate spots.

We still have a lot to unpack in the house. Unfortunately the first week we move up here Jake has had to work super late. He has been getting home around 7-8:15 this week which makes it hard on both of us. We still have a few things left in the condo that we'll move up here either this weekend or next. Both of the girls love having a big yard to run around in. Lucy of course found a hole in the fence behind a big plant that she could escape into the neighbors yard. We really lucked out she didn't run around the neighborhood because the house next door is for sale and their gate to the backyard was open, but Lucy stayed in their yard. We put big rocks to block the hole for now. Eventually we're going to have to replace the whole fence on that one side, but we have no idea who we talk to about that since it's a foreclosure.

Hopefully by the next blog post I will have pictures of our house all set up (maybe not decorated).

And here's my huge belly! I also included a little collage of photos from the pregnancy so far.

Until next week,

Love

30 weeks down, 10 more to go!

Today marks 30 weeks in the pregnancy! Can you believe we're only 10 weeks away from meeting Jaxon? Our little man is a little over 3 pounds and 15 and a half inches long from head to heel. He is still gaining brain tissue and making nerve connections throughout his body. If he were to be born now, he could perceive the world with all 5 of his senses, although his eyesight right now is about 20/400. He obviously can't smell in the womb, but his first scent (and one of his favorites) will be the smell of mommy and daddy as soon as he comes out. Right now there's about a pint and a half of amniotic fluid surround Jaxon, but as he gets bigger and bigger there will be less space for the fluid. They say at around 30 weeks the top of my uterus can be felt 4 inches above my belly button, but I'm still measuring a little big. In the upcoming weeks our baby boy will just continue to grow and develop until he decides he's ready to embrace the world with his presence.

As I posted last time, I was in the middle of getting a referral to a new OB doctor that is closer to our new house. I found out the referral got denied again, so yesterday I was on the phone all day calling all kinds of departments in the naval hospital trying to get them to "disengage" me as a patient. I think it finally worked, but now I have to go through the military base that's a little closer to our new home. In reality it isn't any closer than Jake's base is to our house but on paper it looks closer. The guy on the phone said he isn't sure if the new base will refer me out to a civilian doctor since I am still far away or if they'll want to see me. So that is what I'm waiting on now.

Yesterday was an exciting day for Jake and I! We finally got the keys to our new house!!! We met with our realtor and he gave us the shiny brand new keys that unlocked our front door. It was wonderful. We only moved a few things with us yesterday. We took Jaxon's dresser (since it came pre-assembled and we knew it would get scratched in the moving truck) and a couple other fragile items. We bought online yesterday new locks for the house since who knows how many people have gone through the house before us and it just makes us feel safer. Our front door lock is really cool, instead of using a key you just punch in a numeric code and it locks and unlocks the deadbolt. Cool huh? We also found out we'll have to replace a few sprinklers that are built in our yard. One of them in the front yard is so completely broken that when we turned it on it looked like someone had ran into a fire hydrant with the gushing water. Jake met a couple of our neighbors yesterday too and they seemed really nice. They both commented about how safe and nice the neighborhood is. Apparently there are two cops who live on our street too so that makes me feel extra safe! Tomorrow is our big moving day and we still have a ton of packing to do tonight. We got all the utilities switched over to our names at the new house and we're getting the cable/internet installed tomorrow. On Sunday our new couch and chair are supposed to be delivered too. The house will be a mess for a little bit while we sort and organize our things, but I promise I'll put up pictures as soon as we're done.

I haven't taken my belly picture yet for the day. I'll update the blog later and post it.

We love you all,

29 Weeks

Today marks the beginning of the 29th week of pregnancy for us! Our baby Jaxon is almost 3 pounds now and a little over 15 inches long! His weight is going to at least double  (or may even triple if he takes his daddy's genes) in the next 11 weeks. Jaxon's brain is rapidly developing and is starting to develop some characteristics that our brains have. The grooves and folds of the brain are taking shape this week, making way for more networks and brain cells. Jaxon is also gaining more "white fat" on his body. This is the type of fat that you and I have, it's used as an energy source whereas the "brown fat" he was putting on earlier was more for body temperature regulation. Since Jax is more able to regulate his own body temperature he is shedding the lanugo that once covered his skin. He'll still have a little bit left when he is born, but most of it will be gone. Little man is also getting more and more cramped in Mommy's belly. He still produces some pretty big kicks, but I can tell they're getting a little smaller since he doesn't have as much room to fully extend out. Don't you worry though, he is still moving like crazy just as he should be!

Last night I had a really tough time falling asleep. Almost every single time I lay down I get heart palpitations for about two minutes, but then they'll go away. When I get them I have a really difficult time breathing- it feels like I can just never quite catch my breath. My midwife said it was a normal part of pregnancy, though. Well anyways, last night I laid down and my heart palpitations would not stop! So I had to sit up in bed and try to fall asleep that way. It took quite a while for me to actually feel like I could breathe normally and try to rest. Luckily I don't think this hurts Jaxon any because he was still pretty active when all of it was occurring.

So everything with the house is going really well. Our VA appraisal/inspection came out great! The house was appraised for $14000 more than what we paid for it, so that's wonderful! Our loan requires we get one of these done to make sure we don't overpay for the property, if it gets appraised for less then the VA won't allow us to purchase the house. We are set to close and get our keys on October 12!!! We will move all of our stuff on October 15! I'm just so excited to get Jaxon's nursery set up finally. And now I can start nesting and being a clean freak about everything in the house. I'm pretty sure I'm going to spend my days just sitting in Jaxon's nursery while Jake is at work.

I'm so excited that Jake gets Monday off of work for Columbus day! And then he will also get a 96 on Halloween because no one in his shop has had any drinking and driving incidents in a long time. (When they go a certain number of days without any incidents, they give the guys a Friday and Monday off...aka a 96....to help boost morale and have it be an incentive to not get in trouble) And that just means spending more time with me! So I love when he has days off work.

I had a doctor's appointment this week with my new family doctor located by our new house. They were all so great and nice! I'm so relieved that they turned out to be great. I didn't like my regular doctor in San Diego because every time I'd schedule an appointment and go to the office on my appointment day they'd never have me in the system for that day! But this doctor was great and she was super nice. I don't think she sees a lot of later-term pregnancies so she was so excited. She found Jaxon's heartbeat and measured me. She told me that they were going to put in an urgent referral for the OB doctor I wanted, but until it gets approved and I can actually see the OB, she wanted to see me every two weeks!! My midwife on base doesn't even want to see me every two weeks! So I was just extremely happy with how it all turned out. I'm hoping since I'll be switching OB's that the new one will do an ultrasound so they can see baby for themselves. I'm pretty sure with my current midwife on base that my anatomy ultrasound I had at 20 weeks was going to be my last one unless there was a problem. I hope I get to see little man again before he's born.

Well I rambled on enough for today. I hope you all are enjoying cooler weather. It's so nice to wear sweatpants and hoodies!!! Jake and I are going to be busy this weekend packing our house up!! Here's a belly pic for you all:

Love you!!

28 Weeks

Today I am 28 weeks along with sweet little Jaxon. Our little man is growing strong and healthy, weighing in at about 2 and a half pounds and approximately 15 inches long! He started opening his eyes last week and this week he can blink them. Other new talents of Jaxon's include coughing, more intense sucking and better breathing! One really neat thing they've found is that babies dream in the womb. Their brain wave activity shows different sleep cycles including the dream stage, or REM sleep. Jaxon will continue to build fat and build his network of neurons in the upcoming weeks until his birth. This sweet little boy has stolen Mommy and Daddy's hearts.  :)

I had my glucose test done yesterday. I won't get the results back for another week. They gave me an orange flavored drink that was sooooo sweet! Even a big sweet tooth, like me, had a hard time drinking it. Hopefully everything comes back okay because I do not do well with them drawing blood. Speaking of them drawing blood, my lady did a great job yesterday! I didn't get pricked more than once and I filled the tube up quickly! That never happens!! If I fail this one hour glucose test I then have to take the three hour test, which means I'll drink the orange sugar drink again and get my blood drawn every hour for three hours. I'll do it for Jaxon if I have to, but I'd much rather just have good results from this one hour test. Also at my appointment yesterday the midwife measured my fundal height at 30 cm! I had also measured myself the day before and got 30 cm, but I thought it must have been a mistake. But the midwife said that as long as I'm measuring plus or minus 2 cm from where I'm supposed to be then I'm okay. For those who don't know, each cm is supposed to represent how far along you are, so 28 cm = 28 weeks. I just hope I'm not measuring a little big because I have a big baby in there, like a 9 lb 15 oz Jacob!

I have great news though! I will be getting a new OB soon!! Since we are moving further north, I'll be too far away from the naval hospital to deliver there. I switched my primary care physician yesterday by calling Tricare. My new primary doctor is 5 minutes away from our house. I have an appointment with them on Tuesday, Oct 4 just to become an established patient. At that appointment they'll put in a request for a new OB for me that's closer in town. Not only will I have a new OB, but I should be able to get an OB that was recommended to me and be able to deliver at the brand new hospital that's just 15 minutes north of our house!! I'm so excited!! I hope everything works out. I've heard so many people in the Temecula area say that this new hospital's maternity ward is so nice and that they wish they could deliver there, so I will be extremely happy if everything works out.

As for the house, no new news still. The second inspection done by the VA loan people should have taken place already. The thing is that we don't get to know when it happens and we don't get to be there. We just get the results back within 10 days after the inspection. But as soon as that happens and as long as everything checks out okay then we will still be closing on October 11th and moving in October 15th.

I hope you all had a wonderful week and have an even better weekend!!

Jaxon must be hanging out a little higher right now compared to last week's picture.

This is what Jaxon looks like inside of me right now:

Third Trimester??

Hello again!

So today I am 27 weeks along with sweet little Jaxon Adam Lester! Some people say the third trimester starts at week 27, others say week 28... so I'm just going to say I start this week to make time go by a little faster.  ;)

Not much new development this week besides having a growing baby in my belly. Jaxon now weighs barely over 2 pounds and is a little less than 14 and a half inches long! He's continuing to put weight and fat on so he'll be nice a chubby when he comes out! (Oh how I love chubby babies!!!) His immune system is continuing to mature along with his lungs. Our little man is quite active at night time so I think Momma is going to spend many nights awake rocking baby to sleep and feeding him. I have to go to the bathroom at least twice every night and when I lay back down he goes seriously INSANE! That's usually when I feel his hardest kicks and punches.

Jaxon I think is now starting to learn Jake's voice a little bit. When he leaves in the morning he always kisses Jaxon goodbye a few times before heading out the door. And when Jake first wakes up he puts his hand on my belly and says "good morning buddy!" Well Jaxon must really like Daddy because he always wakes right up and starts punching away at Daddy's hand. It usually takes him a little while to go back to sleep after Jake leaves.

There's an old wives tale that say if you have heartburn during your pregnancy then you'll have a baby born with hair! Well if this were true then Jaxon would come out with a mullet!!! I get heartburn almost every single night and always take Tums before I go to sleep. But I don't think the wives tale is going to be true because both Jake and I were born pretty bald.

I'm in the middle of deciding whether or not I want to get a 3d sonogram of Jax. They do them fairly cheaply out here compared to what I've heard other people pay for theirs. Usually it is about 20-25 minutes long and you get a free CD of all the pictures and hard copies of the pictures too. But Missy told me that the baby really has to be cooperating to get any good shots of him. In the last ultrasound I had with Missy he just kept his hands in front of his face the entire time, so if I decide to do 3d he better be a wiggle worm so we can get all kinds of good shots. (Maybe I'll drink a glass of orange juice before we go)

That's all the updates I have on little man. I went a little picture crazy today so you guys get 3 belly pics!!!

here's a front view of my belly:

And a close up of how big I am!!!

I hope you all are enjoying your first day of FALL! I wish it was cooler here so I could enjoy some hot cider or something.

Love you all and talk to you soon.
